Be the Street Champion: Alankrita Dayal

Name:
Alankrita Dayal

City: Fremont

Neighborhood: Bruce Drive

What do you like best about your neighborhood?

The people in my neighborhood are very caring towards the environment. The plants are always watered. The trash is placed in the correct bins. They have truly been my motivation.

What do you do to keep your streets clean?

I often help my neighbors rake their leaves. In general, whenever I see a plastic bag or a water bottle on the ground, I make sure to recycle it! Trash and compost are always placed in the correct bins as well.

What does Be the Street mean to you?

Be the Street means a lot to me. It is a first step green initiative—something all high schoolers should be a part of. Be the Street’s voice is very strong and inspirational. Its motive is identical to mine; I wish to create a cleaner, safer, greener environment for us and the coming generations.

How has Be the Street encouraged you to take action?

I have been able to advertise and promote the importance of cleaning up our environment. The products we use and dispose of can be very harmful to living things. I feel that it is my responsibility—and in fact, everyone’s responsibility—to take the initiative and bring this positive change in our communities. Just imaging a clean world motivates me to continue striving for this goal! In my community, I have involved myself with clean-up crews and hosted park clean-up days for this mission.
